If We Agree that I Will Be Your Lawyer
- If your studio is incorporated, I’ll ask you to email me its certificate of incorporation. Most of my clients are, or are about to be, incorporated
- You will need to send me a copy of government issued photo ID (but not health cards) to confirm who you are
- I will prepare a short engagement agreement for you to sign
- If you are a sole proprietor, then you will be my client
- If your incorporated, the corporation will be my client, not you personally, its founders, shareholders, officers or directors
- If you have multiple founders, all founders will need to sign the engagement agreement to confirm which of you is authorized to give me direction
- Once the engagement agreement is signed, I can begin providing legal services
Eligibility
I am licensed to practice law in Ontario and California. I can assist clients:
- Located in Ontario or California

In certain circumstances I can provide a limited set of services, for limited periods of time, in other Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions. Contact me for details.
Important Notice
During our consultation, I will not be your lawyer, and you will not be my client. For this reason:
- Nothing I say during our consultation will constitute legal advice, and
- While I will endeavor to keep your confidential information secret, because you are not my client, nothing you tell me or send to me will be subject to solicitor/attorney-client privilege. This means a court or tribunal can compel me to disclose any information you share with me before you become a client.
YOU WILL NOT BE MY CLIENT, AND I WILL NOT BE YOUR LAWYER, UNLESS AND UNTIL WE ENTER INT0 A SIGNED ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT.
